While Error 692 indicates there is a problem with the device, this is typically not the case. A spelling error in the Modem Initialization String or simply not having the device connected is usally the cause of this error. When using the Manufacturers connection software, verify that the software detects the phone correctly.

Basic Troubleshooting - Always complete these steps prior to doing any advanced troubleshooting

  1. Pull the battery out of the phone while it is disconnected from the computer and charger
  2. Restart the computer
  3. Verify the phone is securely connected to the computer using the correct USB Cable and NOT connected using a USB Hub or splitter
  4. Verify the connection and settings are correct by following the Connection Setup again to check the settings
  5. Test the connection again
  6. If it fails, unplug the device and try a different USB port on the computer
