How to use a Blackberry as a USB Modem with Blackberry Desktop Manager 5.01 on Windows

To use a Blackberry as a modem with BBDM 5.01

  1. Open the Blackberry Desktop Manager
  2. Connect the Blackberry to the computer with the USB cord
  3. Click on IP Modem
  4. Click Configure
  5. Click the Carrier dropdown box and select your carrier from the list
  6. Click OK
  7. Click the Connect button
  8. The Desktop Manager will attempt to connect and should show Connected

 

To Setup a Custom Profile

  1. Open the Blackberry Desktop Manager
  2. Connect the Blackberry to the computer with the USB cord
  3. Click on IP Modem
  4. Click Configure
  5. Click Add Custom Profile...
  6. For the Profile Name enter #ModemName and click Add Profile
  7. For the Username enter #ModemUsername
  8. For the Password enter #ModemPassword
  9. For the APN enter #ModemAPN
  10. Click Save
  11. Click OK
  12. Click Connect
  13. The Desktop Manager will connect and should show Connected
