How to use a LG CU920 (Vu) as a USB Modem on Windows Vista / 7

To setup the phone as a modem

  1. Download the LG USB Modem drivers below
  2. Run the LG USB Modem driver install
  3. Select your language then click Next
  4. Click Next to begin the installation
  5. Once complete, click OK to complete the installation

 

Set the phone to Data Connection

  1. Go to the Main Screen
  2. Tap Menu (4 dot button)
  3. Tap the Settings tab
  4. Tap More
  5. Tap Connection
  6. Tap USB Connection Mode
  7. Tap Data Service then tap Set

 

Setup the Connection

  1. Connect the LG Phone to the computer
  2. Go to Start Control Panel
  3. Windows Vista - On the left panel select Classic View to show all icons
    Windows 7 - Click the All Control Panel Items icon to show all icons
  4. Open Device Manager
  5. Click the plus next to Modems
  6. Right click the LGE Mobile USB Modem and select Properties
  7. Click the Advanced tab
  8. In the Extra Initialization Command enter #ModemInitialization
  9. Click OK to save it
  10. Close the Device Manager
  11. Open Network and Sharing Center
  12. Click Setup a connection or network
  13. Select Set up a dial-up connection then click Next
  14. If prompted, select the LGE Mobile USB Modem
  15. For the Dial-up phone number enter #ModemNumber
  16. For the Username enter #ModemUsername
  17. For the Password enter #ModemPassword
  18. For the Connection name enter #ModemName
  19. Click Connect to connect
  20. If successful, click Browse the Internet now to browse or Close to close the window
  21. The Modem Connection is setup and ready to use.
  22. If the connection failed, click Setup my connection anyway
  23. When prompted to select a location, select Home
  24. Click Close and then browse the web

 

If the connection failed

  1. Verify all the settings using this walkthrough again.
  2. If still now working go to Start Control Panel Network and Sharing Center
  3. Windows Vista - Select Manage Network Connections on the left panel
  4. Windows 7 - Select Change Adapter Settings on the left panel
  5. Open the Dial-up Connection and click Dial
  6. The connection will fail and bring up an error code. In this case it is Error 619
