How to use the LG KP500 (Cookie) as a USB Modem on Windows XP/Vista/7
To setup the phone as a Modem
- On the Phone Go to the Main Screen
- Tap the Menu button (4 dot button)
- Tap the Settings tab
- Tap Connectivity
- Tap USB connection mode
- Select Always ask or PC internet
- Connect the USB cord to the PC and the Phone
Note that if you selected Always ask, when the phone is plugged into the PC, select PC internet - The Autoplay window should come up
Note that if the window does not come up, go to Start and select Computer then double click the CD Drive (X:) LGE 3G Mobile - The Installer will Install the LG PC Internet Application and USB Modem drivers for the phone.
- The LG PC Internet Application will load
- Select the County and Network Provider from the list and click connect
- If the Country or Provider is not in the list, click on Detail Settings
- Select Other for the Country and Network Provider
- Set Call type to GPRS
- Enter in any name for the Profile (IE: T-Mobile for T-Mobile)
- For the APN enter in #ModemAPN
- For the Call number enter #ModemNumber
- For the Username enter #ModemUsername
- For the Password enter #ModemPassword
- Click Connect to connect.
- The next time you want to connect, plug in the phone then select PC internet on the device if necessary.
- On the LG PC Internet application, click Connect if the Country and Network Provider are present, otherwise click Detail Settings then click Connect.
Note that you may incur data charges for using your phone as a modem. Some Providers require a Data Plan to use your phone as a modem. Please check with your provider prior to using your phone as a modem.
