How to use a HTC Touch Pro 2 as a Bluetooth Modem


To use the Touch Pro 2 as a Bluetooth modem follow each section of steps in order.

Turn Bluetooth on and make your device visible

  1. Tap Start > Settings > Communications > Bluetooth
    Note You can also tap Start > Settings > All Settings > Connections tab and then tap Bluetooth.
  2. When prompted to turn on Bluetooth, tap Yes.
  3. Tap the Settings tab then tap Not Discoverable.
  4. Tap the drop-down menu and then select Always Visible.
    Note If you select Visible for 60 seconds, Bluetooth visibility will turn off automatically when the time elapses and your device has not yet connected to another Bluetooth device.
  5. Tap Done. The icon then appears in the title bar to indicate that the device is in visible mode.

 

Pair the Device with Windows

  1. Click Start > Control Panel
  2. Open Bluetooth Devices
  3. In the Bluetooth Devices window, click Add
  4. The Add Bluetooth Device Wizard will open
  5. Check the box for My device is set up and ready to be found then click Next
  6. The wizard will search for Bluetooth devices.
  7. Select the Touch Pro 2 then click Next.
  8. Select Let me choose my own passkey. Enter a passkey (1 to 16 numeric characters are allowed) then click Next
  9. A confirmation message will display on the Touch Pro 2. Select Yes to accept the connection, enter the same passcode, then tap Next
  10. On the computer, click Finish to complete the Partnership
  11. On the Touch Pro 2 Partnership Settings screen, you can change the display name for the computer, then tap Finish

 

Enable Internet Sharing on the Touch Pro 2

  1. Go to the Main Screen on the Touch Pro 2
  2. Tap Start > Programs > Internet Sharing
  3. Set the PC Connection to Bluetooth PAN
  4. Set the Network Connection to the Internet Profile for your carrier
  5. Tap Connect

 

Establish a Bluetooth Personal Area Network (PAN) between the computer and the device

For Windows Vista:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center
  2. Click Manage network connections
  3. Under Personal Area Network, double-click Bluetooth Network Connection
  4. In the Bluetooth Personal Area Network Devices dialog box, select your device, and click Connect

For Windows XP:

  1. Tap Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
  2. Under Personal Area Network, click the Bluetooth Network Connection icon
  3. Under Network Tasks, click View Bluetooth network devices
  4. In the Bluetooth Personal Area Network Devices dialog box, select your device, and click Connect

Note If the Bluetooth adapter or dongle on your computer was installed using a third-party driver, open the Bluetooth software that came with the Bluetooth adapter/dongle to connect your computer and device via Bluetooth. Refer to the Bluetooth adapter/dongle documentation for more information.
